Day 5...

Day 5 of the Dukan Diet and here is how I see it...

- 5.5 lbs lost (too many to go to say)
- I can walk past all of the freaking Easter Candy my kids still have and not eat any of it!
- Walked every day with Ginger and can actually visualize beginning to jog on our walks(that is pretty major for me).

It has been baby steps but considering the out of control sugar spiral I was on, this IS progress.

Tomorrow I have a birthday party to go to...

I plan to chew lots of gun and nothing else.  My plan is to get in and get out as quickly as possible and no one will get hurt.

TMI

Being new to this blog thing, I am starting to catch on.  I will be starting a section to list all of the instances when I get WAY Too Much Information from people.

Case in point and TMI #1...

Here is the set up...

At Boy Scouts with my oldest last night for a parent meeting about a big up coming trip in which shower facilities will be limited.  There is a mother/father duo that I particularly can not stand...

Dad says,"I'm not going to be able to take a shower the entire weekend?"(stupid question because they already said this 5 times!)

Scout Leader says,"No."(should have said "Duh")

Mom says to Dad (for all of us to hear),"You are going to look like a terrorist if you don't shave all weekend.  I will send you with a package of baby wipes for you to clean yourself."

Ewweee!  Did not need to hear that last sentence.

Chick #2 thinks Chick #1 has lost it...

This is Ginger, she is the #2 Chick in our house.
She is not amused with all that has come with my attempt to get on the sugar wagon.
It has been a rough week but we are at the end of day 3 doing Dukan.  I am actually starting to feel better.  The massive headache I had for a day and a half has gone away and for the first time in a long time I feel like I may actually not be held hostage by my sugar cravings(and maybe loose the 40 lbs I have gained since I started telecommuting).

We are readying ourselves for the arrival of our 12 egg laying chicks for the first week in June.  Good thing we have some time since we are still working on the coop.  Then the real fun starts as my husband decided to order 2 batches of 25 meat birds.  Yes that is a total of 62 birds!  The meat birds will only be temporary residents for about 10 weeks, but while they are here they will have a nice little chicken life in our corner of the world. It will be interesting to see how Ginger likes the chicks.  I have a feeling there will be no love but time will tell.

My new mantra...you can Dukan...

Day 2 of the Dukan diet.  Thought I was going to 'bout loose it yesterday at 1:00.  ~ My name is the Cake Chick and I am a sugarholic.~  Day 2 of no sugar and refined carbs is going better than expected.  I did go to cake decorating class last night and was able to maintain my composure.  I am one lick of frosting away from being strung out in an alley surrounded by empty bags of M&M's and speaking in different tongues.  I can Dukan, I can Dukan, I can Dukan...

It was the best of times it was...

the Sunday night and the end of school vacation week.  I do love my boys, don't get me wrong, but a girl needs some SPACE!  I love it when my boys are on vacation, it means I get to sleep late(yippee!) Working from home, I don't have to start until 8:15.  When you work from home, you don't even need to brush your teeth (if you are really tight on time) before you log on to start the day.  The only person in my office is Ginger(my dog) and she doesn't mind, as long as I keep the milk bones a commin'.  When school is in, that  means up at the ungodly time of 5:50am.  I took Thursday and Friday off last week and took my boys into Boston. We had a great time, cannolis from Mike's in the North End, a ride on the swan boats, tour of the state house.  We even got to go to the 30th floor of the Custom House to see the Peregrine Falcon that nests there sitting on her 4 eggs(hello to my second latest addiction, web cams of birds, I swear that web cam of those eagles is like crack to me!  I just can't get off of it.  Now I have a new addiction as we watch for the falcon chicks to hatch in the next few weeks.) Again, great trip into beantown, but no escape/break from my boys.  Did not really feel like the mini vacation I was hoping for.  To top things of, though I work from home, my main office is in Boston, of which we had a view of out of our hotel window, again not exactly the break from work I was hoping for.  Cut to today. At my mom and dad's for a nice Easter dinner with the fam.  My sister asked(maybe because she knew not to assume) if I wanted to sit with my boys at one table or with the adults at the other table.  Oh surprise, surprise, I said "No I don't want to sit with the boys." I believe I was getting ready to accept the bad mother of the year nomination and ya know what?  I don't really care!  I was with them 24-7 for the past 3 days and now they are all hopped up on Easter candy and the endless supply of Mountain Dew my mother supplies to them on holidays, you bet your ass I don't want to sit with them!  Now it is 10pm and they have crashed hard after winding down with a little Swamp People I had on the DVR(I can't get me enough of them Swamp People).  They will be totally Jonsing for some chocolate tomorrow and I say good luck to that... Mommy is starting the Dukan diet tomorrow and she is cleaning house!  Nite, nite time for me...5:50am comes too quick for this tired chick.

here goes nothing...

I decided to start a blog to record the momentous shift that will be taking place at a little place I call home.  I have a husband and two sons, they have overtaken my life with all of their boy and men stuff.  I was always a tomboy growing up but, once I found myself surrounded by the testosterone, I rebelled.  Though I am still fairly true to my tomboy roots, I must confess, have become kind of a girly girl.  Shortly, Ginger(my dog) and I will be turning the tables on all things male here when our 12 chicks are delivered.  These 12 chicks will grow into 12 egg laying hens and we will have domination(yes I can be a little dramatic) over the land, or at least over our plot that we call home.  Here is just hoping that Ginger doesn't try to eat the chicks like they are peeps on Easter morning.  We are counting the days until June when the chicks will be here to roost and there won't be anyone here except us chicks(well almost).
