Happy Mother's Day...

to me! (and you too!)
some cheese and crackers and my favorite wine~ Apothic Red.
If you like red wine, try it!
It is a blend and just so yummy!
I am totally let my 10 year old sit next to me and eat Oreo's for dinner.
I have some Ben and Jerry's half baked froyo for later to
enjoy with my latest obsession~ Downton Abbey.
I made brunch for my mom and MIL this morning so
the afternoon and evening have been my time.
I like time better than most gifts though I would never
turn my nose up at a little sparkle or something from Coach.
My husband tried to give me a 'present' this morning but
I told him there is no re-gifting on Mother's Day.
Enjoy!

P.S. I am so giving my two notice tomorrow! Yippppppeeeee! This is
almost turning into a 'Friend's Don't Let Friend's Blog Bluzzed' post.
Before it does, I am out of here.

chick interrupted...

if there is anyone still out there taking the occasional gander at my blog, thank you.
Life was interrupted...life has been just crazy. It has run the gamut from despair to elation and everything in between.  out of all of the crazy, has come some wonderful life changing things.  I do not think any of it would have been possible without a little Divine intervention for which I am so grateful.

Unhappiness with my job situation has turned into a new job for me. A very exciting opportunity.  My dream job (if there is such a thing when one works in the insurance industry) more money, great opportunities for learning and growth.

Illness for my dad turned into him finally being diagnosed properly for his ongoing health problems that have plagued him for the past 4 years.

Young love has transformed my 14 year old to 'boyfriend' to a nice(ish) girl.  Boy has this been a learning experience.

Dissatisfaction with our public school has prompted us to find better options for our boys though this is still much in flux.

on Monday I will give my notice to my current employer.  I am so happy to be able to put that chapter to a close though I will miss very much some good friends who have been an incredible source of support on this new journey.

we are anxiously awaiting a letter of acceptance(hopefully) for a school we have just fallen in love with for our 14 year old.

we are giddy with excitement over a chick shipment due to arrive a week from Monday.

Life has resumed.
Life is good.

out my office window...

Some people see skyscrapers,
Some people see traffic and the hustle and bustle of the city.
Some people don't have a window to look out at all.
This is what I saw out my window today while I was working...
Hmmm I guess I wasn't the only one who needed to get back to work...
Enjoy your view!

Living in the dark ages...

We are day 3 post Irene and still without electricity.
We didn't sustain any significant damage. Our people and animals are all fine, but our town still has trees and lines down everywhere.
My boys were supposed to start school today.  We were told yesterday that first day of school would be TBA.  Today they announced they will start next Tuesday! Here's hoping we don't have too many snow days or the kids will be in school until July.
Since I work from home, I can't work without power so
I am commuting into my office in Boston.
I am lucky that I have a great sister who lives near the commuter rail so I am crashing at her place(and blogging on her laptop, you know the blog that I didn't want her to read).  Oh the guilt. Anywho, I get a hot shower and a quick commute into the city.  Trying to make the best of a not so great situation.
My husband is at home with my boys...
no electricity except for a generator to run our fridge and freezer.
I think I have the better end of the deal but shhh, I'm not saying anything...

Growing pains...

Our chicks are growing!  We moved our meat birds to the coop and today was their first day out.
They are getting so big and enjoying their new, albeit temporary digs.
They all seem to be doing well though some were a little timid about venturing out.
I can't believe how big their legs and claws are.  I think they give a new meaning to
growing pains, but no leg problems so far for our birds.

As for our hens, they are still cute as can be...
technical difficulties have prevented me from uploading the video.
Given the week I have had, I just can't deal with tech problems right now.

I have been absent from the blog world due to something I guess I could call growing pains too.
I have been doing some soul searching...I work from home, and not happy doing so.
So many people don't get it.  I am happy to have a job, but every day seems like
groundhog day to me.
When I began working from home, my boys were smaller, bus schedules and
day care ruled my world.
Now they are older, buses come earlier and I could make it to an office no problem now a days.
I have been so unhappy for so long with work, but considering the economy,
who have I been to complain? It is so isolating working from home.
I am going to continue to do some soul searching about this, as I prepare
for the weekend.  Guess who will be back and it is
going to be another wicked long weekend for this chick!

A dog's eye view...

So, I work from home...
Sounds great, right?
Well sometimes yes and sometimes, not so much.
I am thankful that I have a job, but it is no cake walk for sure.
I work alot hours, about 60 a week.

To battle the loneliness, we got Ginger about 3 years ago.
There are no flies on her. She knows what she wants.

The treat zone...
Top shelf is the milkbones(Ginger likes to kick her treats old school) and the occasional dentastix for those not so fresh days.

Sometimes I am busy.  Ginger has a move to combat this.  I call it the "cram your head under my arm move so I can't type move".  It is usually pretty successful.

Then sometimes she just sits...and looks... I think now she is saying "Mommy just tell me, what is really in the garage?  I'm hungry for a snack and a milkbone isn't gonna cut it."
We have decided to hold off on the formal introductions with Ginger and the chicks till they are a little bigger or atleast can't fit in her mouth with one gulp.

It was the best of times it was...

the Sunday night and the end of school vacation week.  I do love my boys, don't get me wrong, but a girl needs some SPACE!  I love it when my boys are on vacation, it means I get to sleep late(yippee!) Working from home, I don't have to start until 8:15.  When you work from home, you don't even need to brush your teeth (if you are really tight on time) before you log on to start the day.  The only person in my office is Ginger(my dog) and she doesn't mind, as long as I keep the milk bones a commin'.  When school is in, that  means up at the ungodly time of 5:50am.  I took Thursday and Friday off last week and took my boys into Boston. We had a great time, cannolis from Mike's in the North End, a ride on the swan boats, tour of the state house.  We even got to go to the 30th floor of the Custom House to see the Peregrine Falcon that nests there sitting on her 4 eggs(hello to my second latest addiction, web cams of birds, I swear that web cam of those eagles is like crack to me!  I just can't get off of it.  Now I have a new addiction as we watch for the falcon chicks to hatch in the next few weeks.) Again, great trip into beantown, but no escape/break from my boys.  Did not really feel like the mini vacation I was hoping for.  To top things of, though I work from home, my main office is in Boston, of which we had a view of out of our hotel window, again not exactly the break from work I was hoping for.  Cut to today. At my mom and dad's for a nice Easter dinner with the fam.  My sister asked(maybe because she knew not to assume) if I wanted to sit with my boys at one table or with the adults at the other table.  Oh surprise, surprise, I said "No I don't want to sit with the boys." I believe I was getting ready to accept the bad mother of the year nomination and ya know what?  I don't really care!  I was with them 24-7 for the past 3 days and now they are all hopped up on Easter candy and the endless supply of Mountain Dew my mother supplies to them on holidays, you bet your ass I don't want to sit with them!  Now it is 10pm and they have crashed hard after winding down with a little Swamp People I had on the DVR(I can't get me enough of them Swamp People).  They will be totally Jonsing for some chocolate tomorrow and I say good luck to that... Mommy is starting the Dukan diet tomorrow and she is cleaning house!  Nite, nite time for me...5:50am comes too quick for this tired chick.
